Our
quality sets us apart from other programs. EAC
infuses all curriculum activities with Texas
Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) concepts and
objectives. Click
here to see the TEKS concepts and objectives that were used
in EAC curriculum during Fall 2007. Our curriculum is based on weekly
themes (click here to view
examples of weekly themes). Pdf
version available. These themes might be changing seasons,
holidays, turning points in history, higher education,
learning about self-esteem, etc. Our weekly themes tie
into daily themes, which are as follows:
-
Dell Math and Science Mondays: Sponsored by the
Dell Foundation, our Monday curriculum encourages children
to develop a passion for mathematics and science, and to
pursue studying the aforementioned subjects in college.
-
Make It Take It Tuesdays: Tuesday’s curriculum will focus on theme-related individual craft and art activities, as well as occasional cooking projects that students will complete to enjoy at home.
-
Crafty Art Wednesdays: This curriculum encourages
children to use their "right brains" for creative
and fun arts & crafts activities.
-
Groovy Games Thursdays: Activities on this day help
build camaraderie and kinship among peers, and teach
children the importance of working as a team.
-
Born to Run Fridays: Sponsored by RunTex
Foundation, this program provides our children with
endurance training, races, and marathons.
-
The Dell Children's Library of EAC and the First-Rate Readers Program: The Dell Foundation graciously funded $50,000 to Extend-A-Care for Kids through its well-known "Literate Communities" grant. With Dell Foundation funds, Extend-A-Care is able to purchase a comprehensive library known as "The Dell Children's Library of Extend-A-Care for Kids:" Extend-A-Care and the Dell Foundation has chartered a new literacy curriculum, which will help children develop a passion for reading, and will encourage them to pursue careers and studies that utilize such skills. The Dell Foundation is a true resource to Extend-A-Care, and has been providing vital enrichment opportunities to our children for over four years.
