Bus Driver

Summary of Duties: Safely transport children and staff to and from field trip sites, and assist in field trip activities.  Maintain vehicles as required by the Texas Department of Transportation and other governmental agencies to include pre-trip maintenance checks, regular scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and cleaning.  Complete minor repairs that do not require service by a certified maintenance mechanic.  Ensure vehicles are secured in the motor pool at the end of the day.  Maintain supplies required to keep the vehicle operating properly.  Drive a school bus to transport children to designated field trip sites.  Assist the Facilities/Transportation Supervisor with daily operations in the transportation department.  Obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, and Region XIII Bus Driver Training.

Report to: Facilities/Transportation Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age.  Must have a CDL class B Drivers license with S endorsement, or be willing to obtain one, provide a good driving record for the last three years and maintain a good driving record (to be verified annually).     

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in vehicle and maintenance, good communication and organizational skills, flexible attitude to meet company needs.  Acceptable results of pre-employment drug testing and DOT physical required.  Community Water Safety certification required for summer employment.

Education and Experience:  High School diploma or GED required.

School Year Hours: 2:00pm-6:00pm, Monday through Friday.  Part-time, seasonal.

Maximum Summer Hours:  9:00 am-6:00 pm with an hour lunch break, Monday through Friday. Full time, seasonal employment.

Salary Range: $12.36 per hour.  Seasonal employment.
