Summary of Duties:Direct delivery of day care program coordinating
and interacting with the AISD Elementary pre-school
program. Organize program to run concurrently with the AISD curriculum and activities. Utilize age appropriate activities to
increase the developmental skills of 3 and 4 year olds by one grade
level. Develop a weekly lesson plan. Establish and
maintain positive interpersonal relations among all individuals
involved in the program including children, parents, school staff and
other EAC team members. Supervise staff for maximum
effectiveness, providing guidance as needed. Analyze and resolve problems that arise at center relating to staff, children, school, or parents. Understand developmental levels of children and use sound group behavior management techniques.
Process all required paperwork. Ensure that all staff understand the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services minimum standards and other standards of quality, and assure that the center is in compliance.
Assure that the day care center is ready for the arrival of children
each day and to provide a safe and well-supervised environment.
Plan activities utilizing the curriculum, to meet the program
goals and the needs of the children. Ensure that the center is
kept orderly and neat. Maintain positive communication with
parents daily. Pick up center supplies every Friday, if not
delivered to the center. Attend weekly meetings as required and
attend staff training as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age with a good driving record and have 2 years’ supervisory
experience and at least 1 year (2 years part-time) experience in a
licensed day care center preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university
preferred. Meeting or obtaining director qualifications
preferred (see director qualifications below)
Director Qualifications:Must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and meet one of the following combinations of education and experience, as defined as follows:
Education/Experience:
A bachelor’s degree with 12 college credit hours in child development and 6 college credit hours in business management,
And at least 1 year* of experience in a licensed child-care center;
An associate’s of applied science degree in child development or a closely related field with 6 college credit hours in child development and 6 college hours in business management. A “closely related field” is any educational instruction pertaining to the growth, development, physical or mental care, or education of children ages birth through 13 years,
And at least 2 years* of experience in a licensed child-care center;
60 college credit hours with 9 college credit hours in child development and 6 college credit hours in business management,
And at least 2 years* of experience in a licensed child-care center;
A child-care administrator’s certificate from a community college with at least 15 college credit hours in child development and 3 college credit hours in business management,
And at least 2 years* of experience in a licensed child-care center;
A Child Development Associate credential or Certified Child-Care Professional credential with 6 college credit hours in business management,
And at least 2 years* of experience in a licensed child-care center;
A day-care administrator’s credential issued by a professional organization or educational institution and approved by Licensing based on criteria specified in Subchapter P of Chapter 745 of this title, (relating to Day-Care Administrator’s Credential Program),
And at least 2 years* of experience in a licensed child-care center; or
9 college credit hours in child development and 9 college credit hours in business management,
And at least 3 years* of experience in a licensed child-care center;
*Years of experience refers to full-time work or double the years of part-time work.
Extend-A-Care experience may substitute for some college credits
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Skills to be an effective supervisor with attention to detail.
Knowledge of all Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
minimum standards and other standards of quality. Knowledge of child development, what to expect of children in different situations, and group management techniques. Ability to plan, organize, delegate, and prioritize work efficiently and effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and skilled in parent conferences. Ability to take a leadership role, initiate action, and make balanced decisions. Ability to effectively recruit, supervise, retain, coach and develop staff. Must be flexible and function well in a team
environment.
Hours: 7:00
am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Attendance at weekly Center Supervisor, and center meetings required
Salary Range:$10.40
- 13.98 per hour (pay rate depends upon experience and
