Summary of Duties:
Supervision and leadership of a group of children in a day care program coordinated with the elementary pre-school program.  Provide supervision of all children, using good group management techniques.  Provide a safe environment in the childcare center for children.  Establish positive interpersonal relations among all individuals involved in the program, (i.e., children, parents, school personnel, and EACFK staff).  Assist in setting up classroom and preparing meals/snacks.  Supervise physical activities in the gym, on the playscape, and on the playing field as well as activities in the classroom.  Supervise activities of group while interacting with children and teachers in the AISD pre-school program.  Keep classroom neat and orderly throughout the day.  Help plan, prepare and direct AISD curriculum.  Follow Extend-A-Care for Kids’ policies and procedures, including those for handling emergencies and discipline.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.  Must have experience working with pre-school age children (2-5 years preferred).  Baby-sitting and volunteer work with children can be used as experience.  Preference is given to applicants with knowledge of and college coursework pertaining to child development, such as Early Childhood and Child Development.  First Aid and CPR certification within last 3 months required (or certification may be completed during training period, before working with children).  

Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00/4:00 p.m. or 12:00/2:15 to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Salary Range: $9.00-$9.80 per hour, dependent on college child development coursework.
