Austin Community Foundation, Applied Materials Inc., The Trull Foundation,
The Donald D. Hammill Foundation, and HSBC Bank Support EAC's Low-Income Families:
Extend-A-Care is happy to announce that we
have received $25,920 from the Austin Community Foundation, $12,128 from Applied Materials,
$5,000 from the Trull Foundation, $7,000 from the Donald D.
Hammill Foundation, and $3,300 from
HSBC Bank to fund
scholarships for low-income families. This funding
enables countless children to reap the benefit of quality,
licensed after-school childcare. We are truly fortunate
to have such dedicated and generous community partners!

The
Lola Wright
Foundation and LCRA Employees' United Charities Support Extend-A-Care's Summer
Enrichment Program:
The Lola Wright Foundation
generously granted Extend-A-Care $21,580 to provide summer
enrichment services to low-income children. Also, the LCRA
Employees' United Charities granted Extend-A-Care $1,500 for
Guided Reading books for our summer campers. We are extremely grateful to
the Lola Wright Foundation for keeping our services available to ALL
families in our community, regardless of income level--their
funding has been instrumental in ending the latchkey cycle in
Austin. Thank you Lola Wright Foundation and the
employees of the LCRA!

Dell Science and Math Mondays
Thanks to a Dell Foundation grant to Extend-A-Care for Kids, Austin and Del Valle children in
EAC's after-school program will participate in
Dell Science & Math Mondays. The two-year grant of $50,000
provides a variety of hands-on science equipment, math toolboxes, and a science photo
libraries for each center. Group-based, age-appropriate activities
take place each
week to provide children with quality enrichment, to raise
interest in math and science, and to encourage children to
study the aforementioned subjects in college.

"Born
To Run Fridays" and The RunTex Foundation:
Extend-A-Care for Kids and the
RunTex Foundation chartered "Born to Run Fridays,"
which provide children
with endurance trainings, teamwork activities, and racing
sessions that encourage an active lifestyle. Children
will receive ongoing trainings, and participate in the
Congress Avenue 1K each year. Click

Shoes
for Austin:
A grant from Shoes for Austin
will provide 250 children with a pair of brand-name athletic shoes for participating in EAC's Young
Athlete Program. To receive a pair of shoes, children
must participate in daily warm-up exercises and Born to Run
Fridays. Children who participate in the Young Athlete
Program for 2 months (40 days) get a pair of shoes at
the end of each semester.
